for the campfire

although u people had slow reaction n staff but i

guess the campfire was alright afterallfor me,i feel that the campfire was a success

already.

becoz when i look back n see how we progressed

from nothing to this major (X50) production, it is

amazing.[not with a lot of help]

The schools came n everything was fine.

although there were disappointments here n dere,

but hey!

this campfire is definitely better den 2 yrs ago

that one! (acc to ms teo jin ling and guiders and

seniors, and i agree with them)

no point looking at the downside of everything

u all were very supporting towards the PLs esp in

times when the thing looks like it is so not gonna

i mean i have a lot of things to say,but i cant

really express it in words and writing larx.

now that it's been close to a year, i shall also say my piece:

okay. firstly i hope you all, the entire coy will read this and know that the plc is very thankful for everyone's hard work and support. it's going to be a year since we stepped up as plc. and of course, we're going to step down very soon. i mean it's inevitable. as our former guider, mrs pat ho-tan once said this "people come, people go." so yea. i think it's been a very fulfilling year for the plc to work with the coy although there were many disappointing times. however, there were also times when we had fun as a coy.

we played games. we did intensive footdrill. we had pep talks and scoldings. we had camp prep. and finally we had our first ever campfire in the new school. this is hij 1st coy. okay, maybe i shouldn't be in a very reflective mood now. yeps. lets fast forward to 060606!! what a jinxed number. hahaha. but at least this day did not stop us from having our campfire.

so i guess the campfire was more or less very successful. it was the night when all the components merge as one after working so hard so several months. it was certainly magnificent although the weather was not very promising. yeps, hahaha. but i thought it was really nice to see the coy coming together as one at the 5 0'clock hour when the rain finally stopped. even ms lakshmi went "alleluia!" HAHAHAHA! okay. you could see everyone working frantically at the last minute.

backdrop people were putting up the backdrop. firepit people, or firepitters, as kailing would like to put it this way, could finally remove those ponchos and groundsheets and start stacking up our precious firewoods which we had been soaking them with kerosene ever since we were born. :D structure people could finally come out of the shelters and work on the structure. item and some other people could finally wipe the stage. others were also bringing the chairs out to the parade square. the deejays also arrived with their sound system, equipment, etc. the scene just gives you the campfire feel. and most importantly, the ij spirit. :D

so, the campfire finally commenced. the backdrop looked extremely fabulous. so sixties. haha. structure was cool too. with the gate and sherry and xiuhui as the guards. haha. souvenirs and awards were great. cute radios and the pearl necklaces. overall deco also did us proud with the thingy on the chairs. the item was totally entertaining! the emcees did a fantastic job too. yeps. their outfits were very sixties! refreshments were scrumptious, as sam would like to put it this way as well. and as for firepit, kudos to all who breathed in the smell of the kerosene for the past few months. hahaha. and thankfully, we didn't cause the parade square to become chao tah.

so all in all, i think we did well as coy. although there are also rooms for improvements.

to the seniors: thanks for taking your time off to come for the campfire despite having your common tests. thanks to all the seniors who came to help us. thanks to all who have left their home comforts so as to spend a night or two with us. and finally thanks to all who have given us their support, encouragement, guidance and assistance to make this campfire a success. :D

okay. i think this is probably my longest entry in this hq blog. may the high quality spirit continue to live on! congrats and well done to everyone! may we also continue to bring guides and ij to greater heights. oh yes, before i forget, we would also like to thank our dearest guest-of-honour, mrs tan for gracing the event!

060606 is probably one of the best days in guides and i'm sure it has certainly brought everyone lots of fond memories of the campfire. memories which we will remember for life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SHU YI AND YI FEN!!!!!!

Yep...It's the CL'S birthday today! And so is Yi Fen's! Ha ha...and the PLs even got a cake for dear Shu Yi...aww.....how sweet.. x)

Official meeting

Time: 2.30pm to 5.30pm

Ok, back to today's meeting. Well, before Guides officially started, we had to put up the flagpole. And we took about 20 mins to put up the flagpole, which is we know is a really long time, plus Kai Ling was there.... stress ah! We ended up making our new ca teacher wait under the hot sun..dressed in black!!! Anyway...we got off to a bad start because we overshot the starting time of our Guides meeting...and in the end, we fell in at 2.45. Yu Ling fell us in at the field and we had the usual spotcheck.

From there, we were given 4 minutes to change out. And we had to go to the toilet at Mother ST John block just to change! Oh dear, everyone was running like mad!!

When we changed into our PE attire, we ran back to the parade square and Jessica fell us into the horseshoe formation. The PLs were checking the condition of our Guides uniform which was hung on the metal railing beside the parade square. many people were scolded for not hanging their Guides uniform properly. And since they were unhappy with this, they made have a changing parade....it was quite a nightmare for some people, but if you're used to changing...then it isn't so bad after all. So anyway...that was our punishment for"disrespecting" our Guides uniform. We had to change in and out TWICE...not including the first change out we had.

And after that...it started to rain!!!

Since Ashleigh was the flagbearer, She had to change quik as lightning and quickly take down the flag.The rest of us helped to take down the flagpole.we quickly ran over to where we had hung out Guides uniform and brought it to the den, away from the rain.

We got to rest in the canteen for a short while, and we took this time to apologise to the new cca teacher for making her wait out iunder the hot sun. Then Jessica fell us in at the area near the St gabe's staircase and we continued doing footdrill. Then when it stopped raining , we moved on to the parade square...again... and...continued marching! This time Yu Pei fell us in. She asked us to bring our water bottles to the parade square, so now we all knew what was coming next....

SOME MORE F-o-o-t-d-r-i-l-l!!!! ahhhh!!!! So from 3 plus to 5 we had footdrill....it was really, very exhausting. And we asked for quite a few water breaks in- between , and our legs were totally numb from standing and marching. Meanwhile, Joanne and Runjin were asked to go and train the sec ones on footdrill commands.

Then Shu Yi came along, so we sang to her a birthday song.(: Finally, it was 5 plus, so as promised, we were allowed to play a game or two before fall out. So we played the game called "splat" and i won! yay! And then we played dog and bone...and my team won...yeah! haha..

After that we fell in and were given 4 mins to change. When we fell in in a horseshoe formation already, The PLs brought out Shu Yi's birthday cake and since che was hiding in the canteen, we sang her a birthday song again...really loudly!!! So this meeting ended on a happy note, and after this, we were dismissed.

~DAY CAMP THREE ~ day camp three~

YES! Today's the last day of camp! I am so happy!!!! Do you know what's the best thing about these three day camps??? I'll tell you...there's NO FOOTDRILL!!! Oh yeah...haha..ok...getting down to today's camp. We did not start off the day well...not at all.
In the morning,Shu Yi fell us in.After we fell out,we had a talk about how badly we did during the past 2 day camps. Halfay through the scolding, we had to change location beacuse we were obstructing the pathway. Continuing with the lecture...baically...they scolded us for not echoing "fall in" loudly, for not greeting the teachers like they were totally invisible, why the attendance was just so horrible, so few people present..and many other bad points. Well....after the scolding we knew what to improve on and i guess the scolding left a big impression on all of us.

And after that, we had a water parade!!! We were all so bloated...so full...very full. Yup, after that we went back to our campfire components.For the overall deco people, there were only three people,so it was quite slack. Thay did some waxing thing, they had to paste the glittery circles onto larger circles using wax! Afetr a while, other PLs from other components came and thought it was quite fun , so they also started sticking too. They did this until 11.30 , before they started packing up.

And the firepit people continued soaking the firewood. And finally, the structure girls.... we tied a tripod and then opened it up.We also tied the stabilisers and the PLs then checked if it was tight, by stepping onto the stabilisers. I think it was okay. We also tied diagonals across the tripod by tying squarelash. After that , we took it dovn and untied all the knots. After that, we kept back all the poles to get ready for fall out.

Meanwhile, some girls were called by miss Tiru to help her find in the hall. they were to search for any trophies that were dated from the year 1950 to 2000. They did not come for the fall out as they were still in the hall helping out.

By this time, it was 11 plus going to 12 soon, and one of the PLs fell us in. After some announcements, we were dismissed.

DAY CAMP TWO - day camp two - DAY CAMP TWO

Today,Shu Yi fell us in at 7.55 am. After that we went into our own campfire components.For overall deco people,they had to cut out large circles out of cardboard and put alot of glitter onto it. It was quite a boring job to some of them, having to stare at those glittery circles....and they kept on doing this until lunch time!

Meanwhile, the firepit people were busy soaking wood, as usual. Thay borrowed a trolley to put the firewood , it was btter than carrying it around! And they saoked,and soaked, and soaked all day long!

Not forgetting STRUCTURE!!! We also tied squarelashes to make a ladder and we also made 2 quadropods. At this time,many seniors came back for a visit. Charmaine,Erika,Gek Shan,Ethel.....and alot more. It wasn't all happy and sweet when we were tying all the different structures. One of the sec 2s got scolded by Erika for not watching the base when we were tying the quadropod, so though we made 2 quads, we could only open one. Awww....that girl almost cried... ) :

After that, all of us went to eat our lunch,which was provided. We had a meal of white rice with fish,vegetables and spring rolls...yum yum...! (: After we had a short rest, we went back to our campfire components, but this time, the overall deco came over to structure,after they had packed up their stuff in the canteen. The item girls also came over to structure.

Now almost everyone in guides was in the structure component and once there, they learnt how to tie a new knot, also called diagonal lashing. Everyone helped to open up the quadropod...Erika's way...haha...that is to pull open all four sides of the quad at the same time and then put it down on the ground at the same time. oh well....(: It took an eternity to get it up, but finally we managed to put it up. x) After that, we tied the stabilisers to the quad and the PLs checked our knots to see how tight it was. As some of the knots were loose, we had to retie them. So after we were done with tying all the structures, we could rest for awhile. Then we went back to close the quad with the help of Erika . when it was almost timeto go home, we kept all the poles back to the pole area, and after everything was done, Shu Yi fell us in, and it was HOME SWEET HOME!

okies! i know i'm the slowest ever at updating blogs...ok...so truth be told,i did
not go for the day camps....i was in la la land...haha..on holiday.(: So i took really long to glean all this information from various people. So here's the summary for the first guides Day camp.

By the way, many of us did not come for the first two days of camp because of leadership camp.
So firstly,Shu Yi fell us in near the canteen. After we fell out,we went into our campfire components.The structure girls, had to tie about 2 quadropods. The PLs also tied the quadropod because they had nothing to do.(: Meanwhile the firepit people continued to soak wood, in the end some of them came over to structure to help us out.

And what happened to our juniors???Oh yes, Joanne,Kai Shi,Amelia, ashleigh...and a few others taught a sec one girl,Denise how to tie the different types of knots. The rest of the sec ones were in other campfire components.We also opened both quadropods and then tied the stabilisers.The PLs then checked if it was stable and if the knots were tight.

We were all quite tired by now...half the day had passed. The worst thing was that we were not provided with lunch, so we were let off at around 12.20 to buy our own food...bleh.We were only given half an hour to eat our food and come back to school.When we came back to school, we fell in near the canteen.We were given a bit of time to unwind x) We had to fall in again because our echo wasn't loud enough...i guess...>< Then we went back to our campfire components.There were seniors who came back today,like Ethel,Kai Ling and Debra. Some of the sec 2s who had science camp also came back for the rest of the guides meeting.
Debra went to backdrop to help out. She was helping them paint the "swinging sixties" banner. After that,the structure girls untied the quadropods and put back the poles. The rest cleaned up the canteen and then we fell in at the parade square. After that,we were dismissed! Yeah! I'm done..haha!

Bonjour mes copains!!! (hello my friends) ((:

Wahhhhh.....sry for taking so long to update the blog....Anyway...basically for the few meetings we had,

we taught the sec ones how to fall in and out. And then we discussed about what we were going to bring

for next week's Thinking Day celebration . And then and then and then...sorry...i forgot what i wanted

to say. x)

Oh yes....and then we also talked abit about our upcoming March camp!

Each patrol is supposed to create our very OWN flag..hahaha....It's sort of like our individual patrol identity..ya.. or something like that >.<>

had tp go practise. talking about that...today is total defence day ! I think the Red Cross + Girl Guides

marched very well .(:

FIRST meeting of the new year!

Hiya..this is Cheryl the new "scribe". (:

Well...today was an unofficial meeting and it was

really slack...so fun.... So anyway....we made

souvenirs for tomorrow's sec one orientation.

We were making teeny weeny bonfires using

yellow paper and cut up chopsticks.Some of us tied

2 quadropods using blue-greens.We were

tying themfor tml's orientation too. (:

Guess what?! Esti came back to visit us....and she

really looked very different! She was wearing her jc

uniform and her skirt was SO SO SO SHORT!!!!! It was

quite a shock! And her hair..her hairstyle totally changed from

her former"egyptian-looking" hairstyle to a much funkier one!!!

Well...she really looked cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x)

Oh ya....and we had our beloved footdrill at the

basketball court. After that ...we fell out and went home.

here's a piece of news. the first aid course will most probably be on the 3rd week of november. however, it has yet to be confirmed. further details will soon be released. yeps. and don't worry, guides! you will be getting your proficiency badges very soon! you guys have to be patient as the badges don't come cheap, okay? okay. good.

cip! tsk tsk. some guides are still short of their minimum 6 hours. a few sec 1s and 2s, yea. sec 3s also. all right. so i guess that's about it.

yesterday was the first official meeting since plc 05/06 stepped up. haha. not so bad, i must say. shuyi fell us in and we had roll call, inspection, etc. then briefing by pauline at basketball court. 4 mins change. dove, fpeck, kingfisher smoothened the new poles. poor kaiying kena a splinter. went to the doctor with mrs tan and sherry. mynah, oriole, sparrow cleaned up the firepit area. washed the zinc sheets and swept the area. introduction of plc and psc. and some talk too. patrol corners was next. btw, eunice chew, our former first aider came too! change was next and official fall out. yeps. that's how our first meeting went. anyway, time has passed really quickly in a year. i mean everything just zoomed past us in the blink of an eye. sec 1 orientation, sec 1 enrolment, a midsummer night's dream campfire, combined meetings, all those days which we all had to come back during the hols for campfire preps ... i think the campfire has brought us together. i think. i don't know if that's how the rest feel. but i guess we have bonded more or less together as a coy or maybe in other cases, as a patrol. and now the people who painstakingly planned all the meetings, the people who were so stressed out during the campfire, the people who made us do footdrills, the people who gave us encouragements when things go wrong, the people who imparted their guiding skills and knowledge to us, the people who instilled in us a great sense of urgency, etc. the time's calling and these people will have to leave us now. they have worked really hard to bring the coy to more than just greater heights! kudos to PLC 04/05! hij 1st coy wouldn't have come so far without them and all the previous PLCs, plus our guiders too. (:

i doubt anyone will read this but here's something worth to read. haha.

Any guide who wishes to clock in more cip hours especially during this coming june vacation, please note that there's one coming up in the 3rd and 4th week of june.
Details as of the following:

Where?
St. Luke's Hospital and Day care Centre.
When?
3rd-4th week of June.

Further details such as the time, exact dates, etc will soon be released.

In the meantime, interested guides from sec 1s-3s, please sign up on the piece of paper which will be passed around during the coming guides meetings. kindly write your name [duh!], class, days of which week which you are NOT free, so that everyone can go together on the common day(s) whereby most of us are free. Days of the week that are not stated will be taken as the days which you are free to do cip. make sense right? hahaha.

gees. i'm surprised i was able to get the password right after not updating this stagnant blog for ages. alrights. here's some news.

1) People signing up for any CIP, please take note:
-ALL PARTICULARS MUST BE WRITTEN DOWN. (eg: name, add, contact nos, etc)
-YOUR PARTICULARS MUST BE IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

Failing to adhere to the above mentioned instructions given by Mrs H. Tan, you will then realise that the hours which you have done for a particular CIP will not be tabulated correctly or worse still, not tabulated at all as the particulars given cannot be seen clearly. so please cooperate. thanks.

2)People who have very little CIP hours, please take some time off your hectic schedule and do some CIP work as ultimately, the CIP hours which you have done will be included in the your CCA record sheet and it may then determine your 'O' level points.

Guides will official start on this friday.2.30-5.30.Full guides uniform.and regarding the patrol doin flag n collecting wallets..u PSs shld know who's turn horx...but ask us if u really dont know...

CCA orientation will be on 15-1-2005.(saturday)
The PSs are required to join the PLs in settin up of booth.if u cannot make it as u are a prefect,den tell us.The rest should come unless with valid reason.

and reminder collect coy fund and membership fee...
